Letters, Words and Fun at British Council
View(s):Have you played Scrabble –
that board game where you keep on making words, using letters in your hand until you are literally lost for words? Imagine playing that game with letters each the size of a floor tile and the floor of a library as your board!
This library is unique, with thousands of new books neatly arranged on white racks, and cozy beanbags, cubes and chairs everywhere, and computers to surf on in one corner and an inviting piano in another corner, and even a cafeteria hidden inside like a treasure.
The British Council Library often comes up with crazy, fun activities like this. It was solving the case of
‘A Body in the Library’ last month and ‘Crossword Puzzle’ the month before. You don’t even need a membership
for participation. You have to
however take part with a member.
The fun began when six teams
of four each, selected a number.
There were lots of coloured letters. Then the action started.
Soon letters were spread all over the library floor. Plenty of noise and we had muffins and drinks to refresh everyone
Finally the ‘Children of Athena’ won. Their hard
work was rewarded
with each
team member getting a big
two-in-one board game in a box.
If you are a pre-teen or a teen, you will surely not want to miss the next activity!
