Many offers to adopt abandoned new-born baby
View(s):Many people have come forward with offers to adopt a newborn baby found abandoned on the Puttalam – Kurunegala road. 
The baby is recovering in the Puttalam hospital and medical superintendent Dr. Sumith Attanayaka confirmed that there were many inquiries about the child.
Police too have received inquiries.
The baby girl was fond by a person who had heard the cries of the infant. She was placed in a bag near the 4th mile post on the Puttalam – Kurunegala road.
Dr. Attanayaka said the baby had probably been abandoned within a few hours of being born.
The baby is receiving treatments at the Premature Baby Care Unit of the hospital he added.
Police are carrying out investigations to identify the mother of the infant.
