Student Council 2019/ 2020
The Nawaloka College Student council plays a large and significant role in the college as students are empowered to initiate and organise events that will enhance their university life. Through this experience, they are encouraged to maximize on their role as youth leaders and decision makers, while being mentored by the academic and administrative staff of NCHS.
The student council 2019/ 2020 was recently appointed and a new batch of outstanding students took over the helm of student life at the college.
The board consists of Isura Umayanga – President, Kanishka Vimukthi -Vice President, Induwara Tharunetha – Secretary, Dahami Ahinsa – Assistant secretary, Anudi Hettiarachchi – Treasurer, Erral Ashan – Event co-ordinator , Shamal Imalanka -Assistant event co-ordinator, Nesanda Nandupa –Sports co-ordinator, Chanuda Selaka as the Batch representative.
An Exciting Time Ahead
“At experience of being the student council president has been great so far!” newly appointed president, Isura said. Isura is an Engineering student, currently following the UniLink diploma. His ambition is to become an aerospace engineer.
“The year was inaugurated with the graduation ball, a night at the Oscars” he said. The event was a great success and was enjoyed by all. Isura said that many more exciting events have been lined up too. These include the upcoming Awurudu celebration.
“I plan to continue the rest of the year as president successfully, giving my all to Nawaloka College!” Isura said. “I plan to lead my team in the best way possible!” he added.
Isura explained that being the president of the Nawaloka College student council will give him the opportunity to learn and develop his personality. “I have learnt a lot about managing a team, taking decision and had the opportunity to interact with many different people. This has made me a better person” he said in conclusion.
