The Annual Concert Of Leeds International School Negombo- Chromata II Showcases Hidden Potential
View(s):The annual concert of Leeds International School, Negombo was held in serene fashion on 5th December 2019, from 4.00p.m onwards at the Negombo Town Hall premises. The event showed promise even before it started. That is especially due to the presence of reputed film producer/ actress Ms. Renuka Balasooriya, who acted as the special invitee for the day.
The event commenced with the usual formalities, and it certainly lived upto expectations. A platform was set for the children of Leeds International School to showcase their hidden talent, and it was evident that maximum use was taken out given opportunities. The main event was the reenactment of the drama ‘The Taming of the Shrew’, and it was met with positive reactions.
That is not to undermine the effort and talent exhibited by the rest of the students. Chromata II shone with performances by students of various age groups. These performances include a solo dance, Saku, Sankalana, Nagasalan, Cow Boy, Asadrusha Wannama, a Latin Dance, The Lee Keliya, Sajan Nallathambi, Rio dance, Ganga Addara, Senorita, a Tamil and Hindi dance, Believer, a Red Indian Dance, a Chair Dance the හොයියා… හෝයියා performance, a life story, the Sebala Puthu and a Nativity Play.
Apart from these, an exciting Carols session was held, where the Pre-Primary, Junior and Senior students got to sing to their hearts content. Proper appreciation was given to the dancing teachers who made this entire ordeal possible. The Chairman delivered a heartfelt message. Ms. Renuka Balasooriya didn’t hesitate to share a snippet of her wisdom and appreciation with the students. The blissful day concluded once the national anthem was sung, and everyone left with their hearts filled with the joy that was experienced.
Reminiscing the day, it was indeed a great day to remember. Principal of Leeds International School Negombo, Mrs. June Marshall showed enthusiasm whilst she shared her personal thoughts of the concert. She proudly exclaimed that she was highly impressed by the day’s performances, and how well the students grabbed the given opportunities. She further added that the students have outdone themselves along with the apt support of the teachers. She happily concluded with the promise that the next year’s annual concert would be just as memorable.
