ETH Zurich also famous as Einstein’s University  is established in the city of Zürich, Switzerland and functions as a science, technology, engineering and mathematics university. It was started as the Federal Polytechnic School in the year 1855 and later changed its name to ETH Zurich which is now at the top most universities in the world.

ETH Zurich has two campuses. The main building was constructed outside and right above the eastern border of the town, which at present located right in the heart of the city. In celebrating the 150th anniversary, Campus a new campus was built as an extensive project called “Science City” for the Hönggerberg Campus.

The university is commonly known as Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich or Poly in short. The base of its success was on Swiss traditions, cherishing fundamental principles of freedom while maintaining individual responsibilities with open-minded approach to education.

As a science and technology university it is widely known for its cutting edge research and innovations. Education at Zurich is a combination of solid theories applied with practical knowledge and experiments. The base of most degree programmes are set on solid mathematical grounds.

Zurich is the highest-ranked university in continental Europe and climbed three places in this year’s ranking, with its best score for citations per faculty member, a measure of research impact. In a comparison of Swiss universities by Swiss UP Ranking and in rankings published by CHE comparing the universities of German-speaking countries, ETH Zurich traditionally is ranked first in natural sciences, computer science and engineering sciences.

Zurich has two main locations situated in the centre of Zurich and on Hönggerberg. A full range of services around teaching, research, and knowledge transfer, and leisure services are offered by both. Zurich also engages in field-​specific investment to develop further locations where the geographical proximity enhances collaboration with its research and industry partners. This facilitates the sharing of infrastructures and technology platforms.

It was initially composed of six faculties: architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, forestry, and an integrated department for the fields of mathematics, natural sciences, literature, and social and political sciences, but now has grown up to 16 departments that conduct solid academic interdisciplinary research in subjects ranging from architecture and biology to chemistry and physics, the university makes a notable contribution to the global science and technology industry.

ETH Zurich’s campus locations are places for studying, research, and working. They have an urban character, offering a range of spaces for relaxation and recreation, and are open to guests and visitors. State-​of-the-art facilities and technologies support ETH Zurich’s well-​known culture of academic excellence.
