CCC, NCC, Mahara CC and Sasitha Amarasinghe CA advance to semis
Defending Champions, CCC Cricket Academy, along with NCC, Mahara CA and Sasitha Amarasinghe CA advanced to the semi finals in the ‘DFCC Junior’ Trophy – 14th MCA Inter-Academy Under-13 30-over Cricket League Tournament 2019.
The matches were played at the MCA and D.S. Senanayake college grounds at Wijerama Mawatha. In the quarter-finals, CCC hit the day lights off MCA ‘White’ by 165 runs. NCC scored a convincing 7-wicket win over Sudath Nanayakkara while Mahara eliminated the hosts and 2018 runners-up, MCA ‘Blue’ by 4 wickets and Sasitha Amarasinghe scored an impressive 6-wicket win over Colombo Premier.
The top performers were Sharujan Shanmuganathan (133 not out in 88 balls with 18 fours) and Ravindu Sigera (131 in 91 balls with six sixes and 12 fours) from CCC, who were associated in an opening stand of 292 runs against. MCA ‘White’. Ryan Dissanayake from Sasitha Amarasinghe scored 91 runs against Colombo Premier and Mihin Munasinghe from NCC made 87 against Sudath Nanayakkara.
CCC, SSC, AdeS and Colombo Premier reach semis in U-15 tourney
Unbeaten, CCC, SSC and Asoka de Silva along with Colombo Premier advanced to the semi-finals in the ongoing “DFCC Junior” 14th MCA Inter-Academy Under-15 30-over Cricket League Tournament 2019.
In the quarter-finals that were worked off midweek, CCC scored a ‘cake walk’ 177-run win over Brendon Kuruppu CA. SSC edged out Sasitha Amarasinghe CA by 1 wicket, Colombo Premier ended Swingers’ unbeaten run beating them by 6 runs and Asoka de Silva scored an impressive 4-wicket win over the host, MCA ‘Blue’.
Sahan Dabare (88 runs), Praveen Kumarapperuma (81) and B. Gimhana (5 for 16) all from CCC impressed against Brendon Kuruppu CA while Dasun Perera from Swingers claimed 5 for 36 against Colombo Premier.
