Kelaniya and Moratuwa Universities emerge Carrom champs
View(s):Kelaniya University and Moratuwa University emerged champions in the Men’s and Women’s categories respectively at the ‘6th Grip to Grip’ Inter-University Invitational Carrom Championship held at the Dharmaloka Hall of the Kelaniya University.
Pramedha Mendis of University of Kelaniya and Theepika Shanthakumar of University of Moratuwa, both for displaying excellent talents throughout the tournament were adjudged the ‘Best Men and Women Carrom Players respectively.
Both Keminda Sanka and Theepika Shanthakumar of University of Moraruwa titled as the best novices players which was a newly introduced title this year. Theepika was crowned as the Best Player and Novices Best Player while Manuka Ashen’s ‘white slams’ highlighted the tournament.
The tournament was organised by the Kelaniya University Physical Education Division and over 250 players representing universities island-wide participated. At the awards ceremony, medals and certificates were awarded to the winners of the tournament under the patronage of S.R.D. Kalinga Mudali, the Senior Professor of the University of Kelaniya.

Sulochani, Parakrama Basnayake the President of Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka, Instructors of Kelaniya University Physical Education Division, Sports Club Office bearers and with a large number of players and students participation.
