Orange brand hopes to attract 1 m tourists to Sri Lanka
Tourism plays a major role in contributing to the economy of the country apart from agriculture and fisheries industry. “I got interested in Orange Tiger Hospitality Pvt Ltd because of its tourism potential where we hope to get one million tourists to Sri Lanka in another five years,” said Dayal Fernando, Head Development and Operations, Orange Elephant Hospitality Colombo at the launch of French hotel brand KYRIAD in Sri Lanka at a function held at the Platinum One Suite 1 in Colombo 3 recently.
Orange Elephant Hospitality (Pvt) Ltd (OEHPL) is a company incorporated in Sri Lanka and a subsidiary of Orange Tiger Hospitality Pvt Ltd India. “We hope to attract Chinese, Indian and other tourists from other markets. We have been to Batticoloa, the Southern and the Northern parts of the country and met many hoteliers, managers and investors. We hope to acquire 15 more hotels in the country in one year to promote tourism in Sri Lanka.”
He added: “Orange Elephant Hospitality aims to manage around 2000 rooms in Sri Lanka and will strive to attract 1 million tourists to Sri Lanka in a span of five years.”
Kyriad is a full service brand of Louvre Hotels Group and is the second largest hotel chain with around 2600 hotels. Louvre Hotel Group plans for an expansion across the entire Indian subcontinent and has assigned the master franchise of Kyriad to Orange Tiger Hospitality. Under Orange Tiger Hospitality Pvt Ltd franchise it has the rights to develop and market its brand in seven South Asian countries viz India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Maldives and Mauritius.
Today Orange Tiger Hospitality Pvt Ltd has around 15 Kyriads operating in India and another five signed to be opened soon. Meanwhile Louvre Hotels Group includes 1200 properties in China where it introduced the Kyriad brand sometime back. The group aims to open many new hotels in China under this brand in the coming years.
