Ashoka de Silva CA wins U-15 Tournament for first time
View(s):Ashoka de Silva CA led by Banuka Algawatte from Mahanama College won the Under-15 tournament for the first time and CCC, led by Sharujan Shanmuganathen from Benedict’s College, Kotahena, retained the Under-13 tournament for the second year running, at the inaugural ‘DFCC Junior’ Trophy 14th MCA Inter-Academy Junior 30-over Cricket Tournament 2019, concluded last week.
In the finals played at the MCA grounds, CCC beat Sasith Amarasinghe’s Cricket Academy, Moratuwa by 42 runs in the Under-13 final while Ashoka de Silva CA beat CCC by 34 runs in the Under-15 final.
MCA appointed Match Referee, Waruna Waragoda picked, Ravindu Sigera from CCC as the Under-13 player of the final and Kavindu Amaneth from Ashoka de Silva as the Under-15 player of the final.
The post tournament awards presentation followed the U-15 final and the presentation party included, Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, DFCC Bank PLC, Achintha Hewanayake, as the Chief Guest, President, Rohana Dissanayake, VP cum Chairman Cricket Development Committee, Mahesh de Alwis, Vice President, Thushan Amarasuriya, General Secretary, Sirosha Gunatillake (all from MCA) and Chris Obeyasekera former MCA President and Founder of the MCA Cricket Academy in 1972, as the Guest of Honour. – LR
