Ocean Lanka SC and Hirdramani SC clinch Munchee National VB titles
Ocean Lanka SC, Biyagama and Hirdramani SC, Kahathuduwa clinched the Men’s and Women’s Novices titles respectively at the Munchee National Volleyball Championship 2019 worked off at the National Youth Services Council (NYSC) Indoor Courts in Maharagama yesterday.
The Biyagama side defeated Golden Tigers SC, Kurunegala in the Men’s final by three sets to one, while the Kahathuduwa team beat Rathanapala SC, Mahauweva in the Women’s final 3-1.
Ocean Lanka SC bounced back after losing the first set 29-31 before winning 25-22, 25-22, 27-25 in the men’s event. Gunners SC, Matale won the third position.
Hirdramani won the first set 25-14 but lost the second set to Rathanapala SC 10-25 before sealing the finals by winning the next two sets 25-20, 25-21. Super Kings ‘A’ SC, Ampara won the third place match.
Ocean Lanka’s Gayan Mallikarathna and Chathuranga Rajapakshe were adjudged the Best Player and Best Setter respectively while D.L.L.K. Liyanage of Golden Tigers won the Best Attacker award in the Men’s category.
Hirdramani’s Dilukshi Harshani Senarathne was adjudged the Best Player and M.P.S.P. Wijesinghe won the Best Setter’s award. Prithika Pramodani of Rathanapala SC received the Best Attacker’s award in the Women’s section.
