School books for 8000 Nuwara Eliya children

Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council Member Ajith Kumara has spent Rs 2.6 million of his own money to distribute school books for children in the area. Mr Kumara, is a new member of the Council and he distributed books to about 8,000 children.
Children from low income families and those affected by bad weather conditions were selected to receive the books.
Mr Kumara said after he completed the O/L exams he became a farmer and now supplies vegetables to restaurants.
“My objective is to improve the education sector in the district,” he said.
