Noting that her house -a shanty dwelling- with a thatched palm leafed roof, the Governor promised to construct a brick and mortar house, utilising funds allocated to the Provincial Housing Authority as her house is in an unstable condition.
Fathima’s father works as a casual labourer, at a brick-making kiln. She has never had a permanent dwelling to call her own.
Despite these draw backs the young student was able to receive the highest grades in the district.
The Govenor, presenting young Fathima a laptop, promised she would receive financial support to continue her higher studies.
“I want to become an obstetrician, specialise in gynaecology and serve the country,” Fathima said.
