Fantastic allround performance by Theeksha and Makarim
View(s):Two Antonian leaders in Cricket and Rugby during the year 2019 created history probably for the first time in the country when both received three ‘A’ passes at the recently concluded General certificate of Advanced level (A/L) examinations.
Theeksha Gunasinghe represented St. Anthony’s cricket for five long years at senior level while scoring 1000 runs in his last season. One of the best leaders to be produced by the Katugastota outfit he was also named as the Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer. Theeksha was ranked 56th in the Central District.
Meanwhile Mohamed Makarim, who started rugby football as a fly-half and place kicker for the Antonian outfit switched to centre in his last two years. Though he was selected to the national youth outfit he could not attend training due to an injury. Makarim was placed 46th in the District rankings.
