Lyceum, Nugegoda make clean sweep to emerge unbeaten champions

Lyceum International School, Nugegoda emerged unbeaten champions at the All-Island Girls Under-11 ‘A’ Division Badminton Championship conducted by the Schools Basketball Association of Sri Lanka in Kurunegala.
Lyceum girls made a clean sweep in the competition outclassing their opponents from the first round winning all five matches 3-0 except the final where they conceded a set. Each tie consisted of five Doubles matches with a team needing to win a minimum of three matches to qualify to the next round.
Lyceum defeated Royal International, Kurunegala 3-0 in the first round, Girls High School, Kandy 3-0 in the pre-quarter finals, Our Lady of Victories Convent, Moratuwa 3-0 in the quarter-finals, Southland College, Galle 3-0 in the semi-final and Musaeus College, Colombo 3-1 in the final to emerge champions.
The champion Lyceum Under-11 badminton team comprised of Vishwanie Wanniarachchi (captain), Nethmi Amaya Ratnayake (vice captain), Yenara Nethumli Wickramasinghe, Tasheen Booso, Meleesa Kolamunna, Tharulya Diyawe, Dulara Hesali Samaranayake, Vinudi Hiripitiya, Tunara Perera, and Vinuki Pethwadu.
They were coached by Diluka Karunaratne (head coach), who was assisted by Dinuka Karunaratne, Luwi Karunaratne and Kaushalya Dissanayake.
