The dazzle of Duruthu Perahera

The annual Duruthu Perahera of the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya began on Thursday night under the patronage of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Mr Rajapaksa placed the relic on the main tusker of the temple. Ministers Chamal Rajapaksa, Prasanna Ranatunga and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa were also in attendance. Ven. Dr. Kollupitikye Mahinda Sangarakkitha, Chief Incumbent of the Kelaniya Temple officiated at the ceremony along with Chairman of the Dayaka Sabha, Dr. Saman Weerasinghe.
