Ruvin spins Petes to victory
Right-arm spinner Ruvin Seneviratne with an impressive match bag figure of 11 for 74 runs helped St. Peter’s to a convincing 10-wicket win over St. Sebastian’s in the Under-19 match concluded at Moratuwa yesterday.
Ruvin tormented the Sebastianite batsmen in the morning session of play on day two as he ended with a six-wicket haul to bundle out the home team. Resuming from their overnight score of 95 for 8, they managed to add just nine runs to the score as they were bowled out for 104 runs in reply to St. Peter’s 242.
St. Sebastian’s, made to follow on, with a deficit of 138 runs, succumbed to Ruvin whose five wicket haul send them reeling to 146 runs which left St. Peter’s a simple run chase of nine runs for victory.
It was a day of success for right arm spinners as Abishek Anandakumar’s match bag of 10 for 64 helped Trinity coast to an innings and 19-run win against Zahira in the match ended at Maradana.
There were two other outright wins recorded by Tissa Central against Piliyandala and Holy Cross College against Kegalu Vidyalaya while Royal and DSS recorded first innings wins in two high scoring matches played at Reid Avenue and Galle.
