Assumption of duties of the New Vice Chancellor

An eminent senior officer of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP USP LOM MPhil(Ind) PGDM assumed duties as the new Vice Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University on 16th January 2020.
A colourful and grand parade of honour was held to welcome the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, and Rector of Southern Campus, Brigadier Adeepa Thilakarathne; Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence and Admin), Brigadier Nanda Hathurusinghe; Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Senior Professor Jayantha Ariyarathne; Deans; Officers of the Tri-Forces; academic and non-academic staff members of KDU; cadet officers and day-scholars participated in this event.
Major General Milinda Peiris has been appointed as Vice Chancellor of KDU for second occasion. On his previous tenure as Vice Chancellor of KDU from 28th December, 2008 to 18th February, 2016, he was instrumental in transforming KDU to be a well-recognized university in the region.
