Commencing 16 March 2020, the UTS Foundation Studies program will be offered, successful completion of which provides students with a pathway to any undergraduate degree at UTS in Sydney, or to a UTS Insearch diploma in Colombo or Sydney. The College will also commence its Academic English programs, which are recognised as meeting English entry requirements at many Australian and international universities.
Visitors can learn more about all programs at the Open Day on Saturday 1 February from 1 – 6pm. Opportunities to tour the new, purpose-built campus, and to talk to current students and discover campus life will be available. The campus is centrally located at 38 Thurstan Road, Colombo.
Information will be provided about scholarships available for top-performing students in Sri Lanka, as well as those available on transfer to UTS Sydney. The transfer process for students planning to articulate from their diploma in Sri Lanka to their second year in Business, Engineering, or IT at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) will also be explained.
UTS Insearch Sri Lanka’s Australian Principal, Ms Alison Hiscox, will be speaking on the day and says visitors should feel free to ask questions. “We will have representatives to talk about our courses, including UTS Foundation Studies, Business, Information Technology, and Engineering,” she says.
“It’s also great opportunity to find out what it’s like to study in Sydney, one of the world’s top 10 student cities, and experience a virtual reality demonstration of the state-of-the-art facilities at UTS.”
Vishnie, who is currently studying her Diploma of Engineering at UTS Insearch Sri Lanka, says: “My desire to study at one of Australia’s top universities has brought me here. UTS Insearch is helping me reach my goals by providing a pathway program that allows me to transfer to my undergraduate degree course in Australia from second-year. Doing your first-year in your home country helps you adapt to the Australian teaching method and develop confidence.”
“I have already developed skills such as team building, communication and time management [which is] moulding me to handle any situation by adapting myself to face the environment and teaching techniques used in Australia.
