The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) is well established in Sri Lanka. We provide a range of internationally recognised qualifications to help students progress in their education or career.

SQA is the national awarding body in Scotland – a not-for-profit government sponsored agency accountable to the Scottish Government – sitting at the heart of Scotland’s world-renowned education system. We have over 100 years’ experience in developing qualifications and qualification systems and over 20 years’ experience of working internationally in partnership with governments, colleges, universities, schools and industry.
We work with a range of well-regarded colleges and institutions in Sri Lanka who offer our SQA Advanced Diplomas, covering subjects in business, computing, engineering and hospitality.
SQA Advanced Diplomas, equivalent to 2 years of university study, prepare students for employment or advanced entry (usually year 3) into many undergraduate degree programmes in Universities and Higher Education Institutions across the world. SQA Advanced Diploma
in Business
This has a strong managerial focus that helps successful candidates to progress to management roles. In addition, the wide range of options helps candidates to progress to specialist roles such as human resource management, marketing, and financial services.
SQA Advanced Diploma in Business with MarketingWhist specialising in marketing, it provides current insight into the main aspects of international business, management and administration. It includes marketing planning, marketing research, managing the dynamic nature of the marketing environment, and implementing marketing plans.
SQA Advanced Diploma
in Civil Engineering
This qualification develops knowledge and skills in geotechnics, civil engineering contracts, project management, site surveying, and construction technology. It also covers fluid mechanics and technology, computer applications for civil engineering, construction technical communication skills, health and safety, reinforced concrete design and detailing, structural analysis, and structural steel design.
SQA Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
The diploma in Mechanical Engineering couples business awareness with engineering principles, statics and strength of materials, engineering drawing, engineering skills, plant systems, and applied industrial plant maintenance.
SQA Advanced Diploma in Computing: Software Development
This diploma provides current skills in specialist technical software development, and develops up-to-date knowledge in programming and systems development.
SQA Advanced Diploma in Computer Science
This covers a wide range of skills including designing and maintaining a website, carrying out technical support, developing small-scale, stand-alone and mobile applications, and soft skills for effective group work.
SQA Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management
This diploma provides students with an understanding of accommodation servicing, food and beverage operations, and hospitality.
SQA Advanced Diploma in Travel and Tourism
This qualification gives learners the theoretical knowledge to work in this dynamic and vibrant industry. The course includes air travel, tour guiding, marketing, economics, customer care and communication.
Assessment and Certification
SQA Advanced Qualifications are assessed through a variety of methods, including an exam, essay, project, investigation and/or a practical assignment. The quality assurance behind the qualification is very robust, something SQA takes huge pride in.
International Recognition
SQA’s Advanced Qualifications are aligned to the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF). The SCQF is a way of comparing qualifications; it covers achievements such as those from school, college, university, and many work-based qualifications.
