Whitney Houston Hologram Tour to commence in Feb
An Evening With Whitney: The Whitney Houston Hologram Tour will commence in the UK on 25th February at City Hall, Sheffield. The tour has been in the making for some time, finally hitting the road by the production house BASE Hologram with the support of the late singer’s estate.
Auditions for the tour were held in Hollywood recently. The tour of the UK will cover Manchester, Brighton and end on 10th March at the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo, London. Her last hit was the posthumous release of ‘Higher Love’ by DJ Kygo in 2019.
US rapper Future scores first top 10 hit
US rapper Future has scored his first top 10 hit in the UK with ‘Life Is Good’. The song features Canadian rap artist Drake as the song debuted on the chart at No: 3. The 36 year old US artist has been around since 2011 and has until now scored several nominal hits, lower down on the chart ladder. This is the second time the two rappers have worked together.
Adele to release a new album this year
Adele will release a new album this year. Her agent and manager the siblings Lucy and Jonathan Dickins made the revelation. The 31 year singer’s last album ‘25’ was released in 2015. She took a break after a brief tour five years ago. The singer is now a single mum after her divorce. Though she has managed to live out of the limelight Adele was photographed a few weeks ago holidaying on the British West Indian territory of Anguilla sporting a much slimmer look.
City called Akon to come up in Senegal
The musician Akon has announced the building of Akon City in Senegal in West Africa. The 46 year old singer and producer took to social media to post pictures. The new city will be built close the international airport near the capital Dakar, and is expected to be completed by 2025. Akon was born in the US to Senegalese parents. He has had several hit songs in the 2000s such as ‘Lonely’, ‘Smack That’, ‘I Wanna Love You’ and ‘Don’t Matter’.
Eminem releases new album
Eminem took his fans by surprise with the release of his new album ‘Music To Be Murdered’ on 17th January. The album name shares the same title with film director Sir Alfred Hitchcock’s 1958 album release. The Hitchcock inspired album is a follow up to his 2017 release ‘Kamikaze’.
Eminem’s new album hit a sour note too over the song ‘Unaccommodating’ which has references to the 2017 Arianna Grande Manchester Arena bombing in which 22 people died, Saddam Hussein’s reference to 9/11 and the mysterious death of child beauty queen Jonbenet Ramsay in 1996.
Meanwhile as several of the new album tracks are streaming, one song in particular ‘Godzilla’ featuring the late Juice WRLD is challenging Stormzy’s ‘Own It’ for the No: 1 spot on the UK chart.
Roddy Ricch single climbs the charts
Roddy Ricch is a West Coast US rap artist who along with Future and Drake pushed up sales for UK singles chart. The song ‘The Box’ by Roddy Ricch has climbed the chart form 16 to 16 to give the 21 year old his first top UK hit song. Though it is not an official single the track has nevertheless been out since December. ‘The Box’ is taken from Ricch’s album ‘Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial’.
