Customer experience is set to be the number one brand differentiator and increasingly firms are realising that “delivering a great customer experience” has become a top strategic objective.

There is something about a moment in time that can’t be replicated, an experience that is your very own, an adventure with others that is intensely personal and memorable.

Mastercard, a technology company in the global payments industry whose global payments processing network connects consumers, financial institutions, merchants, governments and businesses in more than 210 countries and territories has figured this out, only too well. There are certain experiences that money cannot buy and Mastercard truly believes that.

With a Mastercard credit card, consumers can book enticing offers and life experiences through the Priceless Cities programme which is offering travel dining and shopping experiences in top cities that has Sri Lanka as their latest destination.

“Mastercard’s broad acceptance in digital payments means travellers have a frictionless way to pay for their experiences,” Manasi Narasimhan, Vice President, Marketing and Communications, South Asia, Mastercard told the Business Times on the sidelines of the Priceless Sri Lanka launch. She noted that cardholders and consumers are willing to pay for truly wonderful experiences. “As a worldwide platform which is digitally enabled, we felt that it was time to add Sri Lanka into our Priceless cities and offer curated experiences from scratch,” Ms. Narasimhan explained.

She added that in order to add the country to this list, the company has to follow strict standards and guidelines. Mastercard has been in Sri Lanka for the past 30 years. Ms. Narasimhan noted that with the Easter attacks last year, adding Sri Lanka to the list got delayed, but they managed to sort it out. This addition has come after Sri Lanka was named as best destination last year. She also added that this offering is targeted at mass affluent cardholders.
