American College of Higher Education branches out to Kandy

American College of Higher Education in Kandy has come of age when they declared opened a four-storied building on Sirimavo Bandaranaiuke Mawatha (formerly Peradeniya Road). Tuesday, with the Mayor of Kandy Kesera Sennayake as the Chief Guest.
The founder of the College Mrs.Sherryn Yaseen Mangalagama outlined the profile of the College, where she said that she found most of the students who need to study abroad did not have the resources for the four years and therefore in order to help them out, this school commenced so that they could do their studies in the Country and go abroad for the rest of their course of study;.
Earlier, the Chief Guest mayor of Kandy Kesera Sennayake and other invited guests and distinguished invitees were brought in a procession and then the flags were unfurled
The keynote address was delivered by the Director of International Education of Broward College Florida, USA Dr.Scott R.Mason. He mentioned that the American College provides a sound background during the first two years of study and prepares the students to successfully pursue their last two years in USA or elsewhere. They could enter the University of their choice and gain a Bachelor’s Degree for further their studies thereafter.
He said that the atmosphere at American College is so lasting that they could study with ease and better their knowledge for years ahead to reach for the finals of the Degree programmes. In conclusion, Dr Mason shared with the saying ‘ You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make it a reality’
American College commenced its activities in 1995 after the return of Mrs.Sherryn Yaseen Mangalagama with a two plus two programme, where you learn for two years in Sri Lanka then two years in the States, Canada or any other country which offers you facilities based on the American College programmes. By 1998. the College was well established to bring in other programmes, such as Undergraduate, Certificate and Diploma programmes.
American College also offers programmes such as Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Early childhood Education, Business, Civil Engineering, Masters in Business Administration, Masters in Psychology and Doctoral programmes in Management, Informatics and Psychology that can be totally completed in Sri Lanka. While it prepares for standardized examinations such as IELTS, SAT, TOEFL GRE and GMAT it also offers ‘English for everybody ‘ spoken English for grammar, Diplomas English for Academic purposes and other areas.
The college has Computer Laboratories Auditorium, Science Laboratories, Counselling rooms, student lounge, lunchrooms and a back garden.
The Director of Enrolment Management and General Manager Mr. Victor S. Patrick also delivered a message.
