Short work for Commercial Credit
Commercial Credit made short work over Heshan Flexe Packaging to score an easy eight wicket win with 28.5 overs to spare in a Group ‘A’ match of the MCA Division ‘C’ 50 Over Cricket Tournament 2020 at the Army Grounds, Panagoda yesterday.
Put into bat Heshan Flexe never found things going their way against a well controlled bowling attack of Gyeshan Hettiarachchi, Suranga Salinda and Malith Fernando to be dismissed for 130 off 34 overs. Malitha Lakshan top scored with a fighting 43 runs.
In their turn Commercial Credit guided by a fine unbeaten half ton by Nilusha Uthamananda went pass the opponent losing just two wickets with more than half the overs left.
In a high scoring Group ‘B’ match at the MCA Grounds Peoples Leasing Co. pulled off a resounding victory over Pan Asia Bank yesterday.
In reply to bankers total of 333 for 7, Peoples Leasing batters put up a gallant fight to score 334 for the loss of seven wickets in 46 overs. Batting first Pan Asia totalled 333 for 7 with Sandaru Wickremaratne top scored with 108.
In reply Peoples Leasing reached the target with the loss of seven wickets off 46 overs with main contributions coming from Sameera Sandaruwan, Gayath Mendis, Chamila Bandara, Nuwan Nanayakkara and Isuru Gunasekera.
‘D’ Division
David Pieris Motor Company with a 80-run victory over Hirdaramani Industries booked a berth for the semi finals in the MCA ‘D’ Division 40 Over Cricket Tournament 2020 at D.S. Senanayake College Grounds yesterday.
Batting first David Pieris built up a respectable total of 217 in 39 overs guided mainly by two half-tons by Madushan Fernando and Manjula Bandara. Hirdaramani failed in their chase and were dismissed for 137 off 29.5 overs.
