St. Anthony’s Girls win annual cricket encounter
St. Anthony’s Girls School, Panadura defeated Princess of Wales’ College, Moratuwa by 6 wickets in their second annual Battle of Young Queen 35-over cricket match played at the Army Camp ground in Panadura. The series is now tied with Princess of Wales having won the inaugural encounter.
Put into bat first, Princess of Wales’ were bowled out for 156 in 22.1 overs. Chathuri Shermila top scored with 32 while Chathumi Nethmini de Silva claimed four for 43.
The Antonians chased down the target with nearly six overs to spare making 158 for four. Chathumi Silva top scored with 30.
Chathumi Nethmini de Silva of St. Anthony’s was adjudged Player of the Match and also received the Best Bowler’s award. Chathuri Shermila of Princes of Wales’ received the Best Batsman’s prize.
