Speedruns Round 2 on February 16
View(s):Over 100 drivers will take up the Ultimate Driving Simulation Challenge as Speedruns, sponsored by AMW, will gear up for Round 2 in Colombo on February 16 at the Suzuki showroom in Borella starting at 9.45am.
With Round 2 of the Ceylon Motor Sports Club (CMSC) Speedruns due to take place in Colombo on March 8, the CMSC, together with AMW, the local agents for Suzuki, has arranged for their playseats to be made available on February 16 for competitors and enthusiasts alike to come and try their handout and to practice for the second round.
Speedruns is the digital motorsport challenge organised by the CMSC in conjunction with Mandarin Reid, where the digital racing platform will be taken to four locations around the country.
Competitors can enter at any of the rounds and they will have an opportunity to compete in a virtual racing environment where their times recorded will be taken into the championship. Round 1 was held in Matara together with the Southern Motor Sports Club.
As the equipment used is quite specialised, the CMSC is making the session on February 16 available so that anyone interested in trying their hand out can do so, and those interested in taking part at Round 2 of the Speedruns can also get some practice in.
Digital motorsport is a simulated driving experience where competitors take part against each other, and as the playseats are connected to the internet, allows competition internationally. The initiative is supported the FIA (the international governing body for motorsport) and the platforms support the international championships conducted by the FIA.
The CMSC is grateful to AMW for their very generous offer of their flagship showroom and for their sponsorship of the event.
