The building fosters creativity with its colourful murals, eclectic yet calming lights and a wide variety of spaces to suit your every need from the moment you step into the building.
“iThrive is actually something very close to my heart and I’m really happy to be officially launching iThrive today,” welcomed co-founder of the HomeTree Coworking Space Semal Luthra at the launch continuing to say that at HomeTree, they believe everything begins from within yourself thus the series of self-mastery classes and workshops they have prepared.
“We have a range of workshops planned from dance, art,self-compassion, yoga and meditation; a lot of areas where we can promote deep conversations that will help each other.”
Introducing iThrive to the public were speakers Gaia Kodithuwakku, Shanuki De Alwis, Kumudini David, Lien Kay, and Sarani Tillekeratne who each shed light on various topics from self-improvement, social media presence, and creating a mark in the world.
“One of my goals for 2020, is to bring consciousness into communities. I want to share with you the tools that have changed me from being depressed and anxious, from being broke and homeless, lost and worthless to what I have become today,” shared fitness and wellness coach Gaia Kodithuwakku who spoke about how the ‘inner work of yourself changes your outer world’.
She shared that it was crucial that we develop our core that consisted of our emotional wellbeing, mental stability, spiritual connection and body. She emphasized on the importance of working on both mind and body since if you did not work towards either, our growth would be stifled. This she says she learnt from experience.
Vocal trainer Kumudini David helped the audience ‘find their voice’, as she spoke about the importance of how the voice enhances and creates a more personal connection with the people around you. A very interactive session, she engaged audiences by starting her session with an icebreaker that led to an in-depth revelation of how you project yourself with your voice shows people what kind of person you may be.
“You were seen and heard by others. When you communicate, what is the point of communication? It is to convey a message, a feeling, a thought or something and your primary means of communication is your voice,” Kumidini imparted on the audience.
Talkshow host Shanuki de Alwis really opened up and moved audiences as she illustrated her emotional journey of overcoming depression, suicide and other hard battles that she conquered. From singing ‘Little Peter Rabbit’, looking back on the good things in your life and other tips that she says helped her realise that her ‘life was worth living’, Shanuki inspired the crowd to love themselves more.
LIen Kay also talked about the transformation his life underwent during the past 18 months and how he found his superpower whilst Sarani Tillekeratne shed light on the nitty-gritty’s of being a prominent social media presence and the underbelly of being public on Instagram.
Artists Shahdia Jamaldeen and Safiya Sadeek amazed audiences as well when they worked on beautiful artworks during the masterclasses were being conducted. Shahdia created an intricate work of a woman inter-woven with plants whilst Safiya brought to life the ocean and its waves.
