Weeknd retains No 1 spot

The top 5 positions on the UK singles chart remained unchanged while the Weeknd retained the No: 1 position for a second consecutive week with ‘Blinding Lights’. The song was the most downloaded track of the week with chart sales of 11,000 against its nearest rival. The electro pop track was co-written by the Weeknd with Ahmed Balshe, Jason Quenneville, Max Martin and Oscar Holter. The song has also reached the No: 1 position on the charts in Australia, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands and Sweden.

Universal Music group faces legal action over destroyed master recordings

The Universal Music group is facing legal action over the fire that destroyed master recordings of many artists back in 2008. The music company has now confirmed the material by 19 artists are destroyed among them Sir Elton John, Sheryl Crow, Soundgarden, Bryan Adams, Les Paul, Peter Frampton, Michael McDonald and Suzanne Vega. Music and film reels dating back to the 1940s are said to be destroyed by the warehouse fire according to reports.

‘Roses’ by Saint Jhn enteres the UK Top 10 chart

A song which was released in 2016 has reached the UK top 10 now. ‘Roses’ by Saint Jhn entered the UK chart six week ago commencing at No: 79. The grime rap track by the Guyanese- US artist was remixed last year by the Kazakh producer Imambek Zeykernov and began circulating.

As a result the original version by Saint Jhn gained popularity and began to rise up the UK chart. This week the song moved up from 21 to No: 8 on the top 10.

The track is accompanied by a disturbing video clip for which viewer discretion is advised.

Adele reveals month of album launch

The singer Adele made a slip on 15th February that her next album will be out in September. Adele had just finished singing at the wedding reception of her friends Hugo White and his wife Laura when she mentioned the month at a pub in Battersea, London. Going by the previous records it is likely the album title will be connected to the singer’s age.

JLS reunites for 15 arena tour

The boy group JLS have reunited to undertake a 15 arena concert tour of the UK. The four piece group will commence the shows on 12th November in Dublin, Ireland and conclude on 2nd December in Nottingham, England. JLS was formed in 2007 and went to be runners up to Alexandra Burke at the X-Factor in 2008. The group released four albums and scored five No: 1 songs on the UK chart before they split up in 2012.

Rita Ora has tonsils removed

Rita Ora has had her tonsils removed. The singer took to social media to make to reveal it on 14th February, saying she had had a painful two weeks.  While relaxing she had taken to painting Valentine cards and uploading a video clip too.

Fire Fighters Benefit concert raises more than AUS $ 9 million

The Fire Fighters Benefit Concert held in Sydney, Australia on 16th February raised 9.85 million Australian Dollars according to reports. Brian May of Queen made a case for concert in January during the height of bush fires that swept through many part of the country. Taking part in the 10 hour concert were Queen with Adam Lambert, Dame Olivia New ton John, Alice Cooper, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Michael Buble, Delta Goodrem,  John Farnham, K.D. Lang, Ronan Keating, Tina Arena  and others artists.
