First innings win for Trinity
Trinity College recorded a first innings win over S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia in their Under-19 Inter-School cricket encounter concluded at Asgiriya in Kandy yesterday. Highlight of the encounter was three fine half centuries and one fine spell of fine spin bowling.
In batting Pasan Ganegoda (87) and Thevin Amarasinghe (62) of Trinity batted beautifully while Thomian player Gavin Boteju (79) was equal to the task in batting while Trinity spin bowler and all rounder, Abishek Anandakumar continued his fine form in bowling with a six-wicket haul. Nearly 120 minutes of play was lost on the second 2 due to rain in the Hills.
St. Anthony’s College Katugastota qualified for the quarter-finals of the Singer Cup Inter-School Cricket Tournament when they beat Maliyadeva College by 9 wickets at Katugastota yesterday.
