Veteran green tea expert to run Australian green tea company
View(s):Veteran Green tea expert Dr. Tiran Peiris has been offered a high profile position as a Director/Shareholder/CEO of Australian Green Tea (Pvt) Ltd (AGTPL) in New South Wales in Australia.
Dr. Peiris said that AGTPL has been the catalyst for building a new tea growing, processing and export industry in Australia. The Australia Tea Growers Cooperative Ltd established a supportive standalone processing, packaging and export company under the AGTPL banner. They are connected with two Japanese-based tea companies who have already set up working operations over there. Already they have planted a tea clone called ” Yabukita ” which is the clone required to manufacture quality green tea including “Sencha”. Further they are in the process of developing a new tea cultivar called “Long jing”. AUSTEA is the brand already launched in Australia and overseas.
Dr. Peiris said given his wealth of experience being the “founder” of three green tea plants in Sri Lanka and pioneering Japanese Green tea to Sri Lanka, his task is to take the AGTPL to the next level of growth.
