Memorial building opened at Panadura Good Shepherd Convent
View(s):A new building for the Good Shepherd Convent in Panadura was declared open recently. The building was named Rev. Sr. Dhammika Memorial Building.
The Archdiocese of Colombo’s Auxiliary Bishop Rev. Dr. J.D. Anthony, addressed those present at the Blessing and Opening ceremony.
“Salt and light is the spirit of our children’s lives. Salt is the inner Soul, and Light our external activities. It is our duty to see that the child who comes out of the school is an individual filled with good values which would be of use to the society and not a commercial product who meets the requirements of the present day society.”
“Our duty is to produce well disciplined students with well balanced personalities for society. We should not only provide a sound and well balanced education but make sure the children are well molded to bear with them an excellent character,” the Bishop said.
After the Holy Mass, Good Shepherd Congregation Provincial Superior Rev. Sr. Maryanne Perera and the Principal of the Convent Rev. Sr. Sujani Fernando jointly opened the New Building.
A large gathering was present for this occasion, including the school’s Rector Coordinator Rev. Sr. Mary Sandra Mendis, Rev. Sr. Freeda De Silva, the Panadura Good Shepherd Convent community and other Rev. Sisters of the Order, priests and other well wishers.
This was organised by the Convent’s tutorial staff, led by Rev. Sr. Sujani Fernando.
