SWLC felicitates 160 University of Bolton Graduates in the fields of Business, Engineering and Computer Science
View(s):The most prestigious event of the academic calendar of Study World Lanka Campus (SWLC), the biennial SWLC Graduation Ceremony was held on 2nd December 2019 at Mount Lavinia Hotel.
This event celebrated the academic success of SWLC’s students who were awarded undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications from the University of Bolton (UoB) UK.
A total of 160 students graduated with their respective qualifications, in the fields of Business, Engineering and Computer Science with Bachelors and Master’s degrees. The event was attended by 600 guests, invitees, faculty members of SWLC and several distinguished guests from Study World Education Holding and University of Bolton.
SWLC is Sri Lanka’s Academic Centre for the University of Bolton (UoB). It is BOI approved venture and is part of the prestigious Study World Group.
The event commenced with the traditional academic procession by graduates and staff of SWLC, lighting of the oil lamp and pooja dance. The event was presided over by Chief Guest Mr. Kishu Gomes, Group CEO/Director of Dreamron group of Companies and Guest of Honour Professor Rangika Halwathura, Senior Lecturer Department of Civil Engineering, University of Moratuwa. The ceremony was graced by University of Bolton (UoB) delegates, Guest of Honour Dr Zubair Hanslot, Provost University of Bolton, Senior Academic Partnership Manager Dr Lynn Clark and Partnership Coordinator Ms. Hannah Dagnall. The event was also attended by Chief Operations Officer, Study World Education Holding Limited Mr. Raymi Van der Spek, Head of Operations Study World Lanka Campus, Mr. Balaji Jagadeesan and Academic Head, Study World Lanka Campus Ms. Janani Thilakarathna.
The Graduation Ceremony was declared open by Mr. Balaji Jagadeesan Head of Operations, Study World Lanka Campus. Students were awarded Master of Business Administration (MBA), BSc (Hons) International Business Management, BEng (Hons) Computer Science, BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering, BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electrical Engineering and BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bolton UK.
Best performers from each programme for the academic years 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 were awarded gold medals in recognition of their outstanding efforts and commitments.
While congratulating the students on their achievements, Chief Guest Mr. Kishu Gomes stressed on the importance of theoretical knowledge from a reputed university, and the ability to effectively communicate in the challenging workplace. Later, Guest of Honour Professor Rangika Halwathura spoke of the vitality of discovering solutions to prospective challenges and means of overcoming them by knowledge bestowed through the respective course of study.
Later, Dr Zubair Hanslot, Provost of UoB declared the grandaunts as qualified graduates from their respective qualifications by the University of Bolton pledge. Further, the best performers from the Master’s and Bachelor’s paid tribute to SWLC, their colleagues and parents who assisted them in achieving success.
A standing ovation was rendered to parents who had backed the graduates throughout their course of study.
The event concluded with an exclusive graduation dinner partaken by graduates, dignitaries and staff.
