Billie Eilish’s Bond track becomes UK’s No: 1 song

Billie Eilish’s new James Bond theme song ‘No Time To Die’ has become the UK’s No:1 song. The track debuted straight at the top of the chart.
Since its release the song it was in contention for the No: 1 position as it became clear it was heading for the pole position particularly after Eilish’s first live performance of the track at the BRIT Awards. ‘No Time To Die’ secured 90,000 chart sales including 10.6 million streams.
Further the new Bond theme song had over one billion audio streams in the first week of release. At the age of 18 Billie Eilish is the youngest artist to record a Bond theme and also have the No: 1 song. ‘No Time To Die’ is the second Bond song to reach No: 1 on the UK singles chart in the 57 year history of the franchise following ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ from Sceptre for Sam Smith in 2015. ‘No Time To Die’ is co- written and produced by Billie and her brother Finneas. The film No Time To Die will have it premiere in London next April.

 

 

Lana Del Rey forced to call off European segment of tour

Lana Del Ray who has been hit by a mystery illness was forced to call off the European segment of her Norman F***ing Rockwell tour. The 34 year old was to open her tour in Amsterdam on 20th February but her health condition forced its cancellation. Ray shows in the UK, Germany and France were also cancelled. The singer took to social media to apologise saying her doctor had ordered four weeks rest. She was offering refunds. Lana Del Ray is expected to resume her tour on March 27 in Santiago, Chile.

 

Pharrell Williams appointed to board of directors of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Pharrell Williams has been appointed to the board of directors of the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. He is joined by three other executives from the music industry. This year’s event will be held on 2nd May in Cleveland, Ohio.

 

Bob Marley musical in the making

A musical on the late Bob Marley is in the making. Titled Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Story, will head to London’s West End next year. The writer behind the musical is Billy Elliot with the music lyrist Lee Hall. The director is Dominic Cooke. Bob Marley the “king of reggae” died aged 36 from cancer in 1981. Reports say the musical has the backing of the Marley family. The Lyric Theatre will be the venue of the musical which opens in February 2021.

 

Bieber’s new release reaches the UK top 10 singles chart

‘Intentions’ the new release by Justin Bieber reached the UK top 10 singles chart as it moved up the chart from 14 to No:10. The track features the rapper Quavo. The song ‘Intentions’ is the second single to roll off Bieber’s new album ‘Changes’. The video to the song is shows Bieber coming to the aid of many people to assist with an education that would change their lives.

 

Mabel forced to cancel concert

The BRIT Award winning singer Mabel was forced to cancel her concert in the Italian city of Milan on February 24 owing to the outbreak of the respiratory illness Coronavirus. Mabel took to social media to say the concert will be rescheduled for a later date as she continued her tour of Switzerland and France.
