Weeknd returns to No 1 spot
The Weeknd has returned to the No: 1 spot on the UK singles chart with his single ‘Blinding Lights’, a week after losing ground to the new James Bond theme song ‘No Time To Die’ by Billie Eilish. ‘Blinding Lights’ was energised by the news that the Weeknd’s new album on which the track is featured on is being released on 20th March. The song moved up a single notch to reclaim the UK’s No: 1 position. In doing so ‘Blinding Lights’ now has a total of three non consecutive weeks at the No: 1 position. The synthpop/ synthwave track is co- written by the Weeknd with Ahamad Balshe, Jason Quenneville, Max Martin, and Oscar Holter. The song was used earlier on German TV to advertise the new Mercedes Benz ECQ electric SUV.
Madonna cancels Paris show owing to fall
Madonnahas had a fall on stage forcing the cancellation of her Paris show from her MadameX tour on 1st March. She has described herself as a broken doll held together with tape and glue. A few days earlier Madonna is reported to fallenoff a chair while performing. The 61 year old singer’s current Madame X tour has been hit by health issues mainly concerning her knee, forcing the cancellation of 15 out of 79 shows.
Her final concert on the current leg is schedule for 11th March at the Le Grand Rex in Paris.
Joel Corry scores second UK top 10 hit with ‘Lonely’
Joel Corry has scored his second UK top 10 hit song with ‘Lonely’. The track features the vocals of 19 year old Harlee from Cheshire, England who is a songwriter. The song carries the same formula of the genre tropical house like similar to Corry’s previous hit ‘Sorry’. Since it debuted on the chart five weeks ago at 60, ‘Lonely’ has risen up the chart with no full stops thus far for the DJ and producer.
Sigma working on a new album
The production duo Sigma is working on a new album. Cam Edwards and Joe Lenzie who front the UK act are said to be pruning the list of songs for inclusion on what will be their second album. They had two No: 1 songs – ‘Nobody To Love’ and ‘Changing’ featuring Paloma Faith from the debut album ‘Life’ released in 2015.The producer and artist Jonas Blue has collaborated Paloma Faith on his upcoming single ‘Mistakes’. Jonas Blue has not been able to make a big impact with his recent singles. In his early work the 30 year old secured four top 10 UK hit songs, all from his debut album ‘Blue’. Paloma Faith is a vocalist and songwriter in her own right who has successfully worked with Sigma and Sigala in the past.
