Come November, Sri Lanka to host Mrs World 2021

Sri Lanka will be hosting the Mrs World 2021 pageant from November 2 – 21, this year, at the Kingsbury Hotel. Springboarding Sri Lanka to an international audience, the Pageant will hopefully be the first of many international pageants happening in Sri Lanka.
With Sri Lanka currently having two Mrs World Pageant winners –Mrs World 1985 Rosy Senanayake and the current Mrs World Caroline Jurie, it was Caroline Jurie who announced the pageant. “I am happy to announce that the Mrs World pageant will be held in Sri Lanka. I think it’s wonderful that the Mrs World organisation has decided to bring the competition to Sri Lanka. I am so proud that a huge event like this will be staged here for the first time,” she said, cutting a glamorous figure in a cream dress with glittery stone embellishments.

“I think this pageant will be a good opportunity for a global audience to see this country is a safe and beautiful place to visit. So it will be a very special moment for me to walk the stage as an ambassador for my country wearing the Mrs World crown,” she added.
Vogue Jewellers is the title partner of the event, with the official name of the pageant being ‘Vogue Jewellers presents Mrs World 2021’. Chandimal Jayasinghe, National Director of Mrs World (Sri Lanka) is co-producing the event with The Colombo Lifestyle company, which is run by Rishini Weeraratne and Minoli Ratnayake. The Hotel partner of the event is Kingsbury Hotel, a fitting choice as it was the first place Caroline visited after arriving in Sri Lanka after becoming Mrs World and where she launched her Campaign “Be You” on December 23rd 2019. The official retail partner of the event is Gflock Clothing, headed by Ranil Willaddarage.

“We are so proud that on our 36th anniversary we get to host Mrs World here in Sri Lanka. This will be the first time the Mrs World pageant will be held in Sri Lanka,” said Alice Lee Giannetta from Hong Kong, who is currently the chief business development officer of Mrs World as well as being Mrs World 2018. Alice has been thoroughly involved in Caroline’s journey of becoming Mrs World 2020. Asked to judge the local pageant by Chandimal Jayasinghe, Alice picked Caroline as the winner as well as trained her in preparation for the Mrs World 2020 pageant.
