The ISSF World Cup was introduced in 1986 to provide a foundation for qualification for Olympics Shooting Competitions.

In the 2019 World Cup, Hamid served as a member of the Rifle Jury with distinction. Rifle shooting was among the very first in sports to stipulate qualifying standards for Olympics participation, ensuring that only the cream of the world shooters battle it out for honours.

Having exelled in Jury duties in many international competitions such as the 10th Asian Air Gun Championships in Wako, Japan in 2017, Hamid served as a member of the Jury of Appeal. In 2018, at the 18th Asian Games in Palemban / Jakarta, Hamid served as a member of the Pistol Jury.

In the 2020 World Cup, Hamid was invited to serve as member of RTS (Results, Timing, Scoring) Jury. Hamid has served in all capacities of the Jury. RST Jurors are picked on qualifying at a special examination conducted by the ISSF for Electronic Target System (EST).The present invitation is a reflection of the esteem in which, he is held in the international shooting fraternity.

From 2018, all newly appointed RTS Jurors, must hold the EST license at any competition / championships where world records are established. Examinations are held under the auspices of ISSF in at least two countries in a calender year. The first ever Electronic Shooting Target Course was held by the NSSF in January 2017 conducted by Aado Maranik, a qualified Course Instructor from Australia, with Hamid coordinated the course sucessfully as Chairman Judges Committee.

“It is a great honour personally for me and to the NSSF president Shirantha Pieris whose untiring efforts to improve the standards of shooting in Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun, is commendable,” said Hamid, an outstanding rugby forward renowned for his robust play. Sri Lanka Rugby honoured him with Life Membership and serves in the Asian panel for Citing Commissioners in World Rugby.
