The tourism industry that was just picking up nearly one year after the Easter Sunday attacks is now facing a double blow with the spread of COVID-19.

The effects of this is particularly being felt by residents of Nuwara Elioya where the livelihoods of one in ten people depends on tourism.

Their main sources of income come from boat rides on the picturesque Gregory Lake, pony rides and other businesses.

Those who depend on agriculture too have been hard hit by the prevailing drought conditions, say residents who want the Government to intervene to find some solutions.
