Twelfth National ICT championships to be held this year, deadlines extended
View(s):Information and Communication Technology (ICT) unit of the Education Ministry, in collaboration with Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS), the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) and the University of Colombo Information Technology unit, have come together to organise the National ICT championships for the 12th consecutive year.
The deadline for applicant registration for the competition has been extended to June 30, 2020 and the submission deadline for the creations has also been extended to July 31, 2020.
The competition will be divided into three categories - the National Schools Software Competition conducted by the CSSL, the ‘Creative Teachers’ competition conducted by the Education Ministry and the Young Computer Scientists competition conducted by the FITIS.
The National Schools Software Competition will consist of two groups, the first group with students from grades six to 11 and the second group with students from grades 12 and 13. These competitions will be held online. The competitors are expected to build computer programmes and competitive evaluation activities will be conducted online.
Permanent teachers of government schools and government approved private schools and teacher trainees from the National Institute of Education (NIE) will be eligible to participate in the ‘Creative Teachers’ competition.
The ‘Young Computer Scientists’ competition will be held in two key areas and the winner of this competition will receive a scholarship for a degree in a prestigious private university, an opportunity to attend the seminar of the Asia pacific ICT Alliance competitions held in Malaysia to exhibit their creations at the INFOTEL ASIA 2020 and assistance from IT industry experts.
