Northshore International Campus rolls out various foundation programmes
View(s):Northshore International Campus, Sri Lanka’s state-of-the-art modern university, is enrolling students for its foundation programmes in Health Sciences, Engineering and Computer Sciences, all scheduled to commence on 23rd July 2020. These foundation programmes are designed to prepare students for its various undergraduate British degrees.
The Foundation Programme for Health Sciences leads to degrees in Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, Radiography, Psychology, and Biomedical among others. The Foundation Programme for Engineering and Technology leads to degrees in Civil Engineering, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronic Engineering. The Foundation Programme for Computer Sciences leads to degrees in Computer Sciences, Software Engineering, Data Sciences, and Artificial Intelligence.
There are two pathways; those with 2 years of schooling in A/L Maths stream and has a minimum of 6 passes in O/Levels including a C pass in English and Maths are eligible for Foundational Pathway A which is a duration of 8 months whilst those with only 6 passes in O/Levels including a C pass in English and Maths can enroll for our Foundation Pathway B which is has a duration of 12 months.
Northshore is well equipped with a fully customized and state of the art Learning Management System (LMS) and well-trained, highly qualified staff with excellent achievements in their respective fields. It has successfully and readily embraced the ‘Teaching at a Distance’ mode with frequent feedbacks through multiple channels of communications, including synchronized live video chat groups.
The teaching and learning methods will include a combination of lectures and seminars, problem-solving classes, field studies, independent study, skills and subject-based tutorials, group work, on-line activities, revision workshops, and laboratory sessions.
The assessment for the foundation programmes will be held every two months and marks obtained through assessment tests will be cumulatively counted at the final assessment. These will be through continuous assessment, practical examinations, individual and group presentations, and end-examination. Students have access to both the digital library of Northshore as well as access to an immense collection of online learning resources of its partner universities in UK.
Northshore International Campus was one of the first higher educational institutes in Sri Lanka to convert to online delivery of lectures from the very first week of the country-wide lockdown and continues to do so very successfully. Further, Northshore was one of the very first, if not the first, to conduct online semester end structured examinations and assessments successfully in Sri Lanka.
It has also launched a paperless culture in campus operations with all academic activities, starting from admissions to assessments carried out in paperless mode.
