How I spent my quarantine
My quarantine started with being sad over the fact that I would not see my friends for some time. As the days passed I realized that I had a lot of fun and interesting things to do.
During the quarantine, I got to watch my favourite television shows, which on other days due to school I couldn’t watch. I helped my mother make delicious food like noodles, pasta and many more.
I played badminton with my sisters every evening which energized my spirit.
I enjoyed a lot of the time playing board games with my family. I spent quality time enjoying the company of my family.
The quarantine was a stress-free time. It was a great break and was also an amazing period with my family.

How to effectively spend an unexpected vacation
You might have jumped up in joy, when you heard that school would be closed for a month. But then did you ever wonder what to do when you were getting locked inside your house for days, without any entertainment?
Well, here’s your chance to brush up on your hobbies and talents, while having the time of your life by not getting scolded from teachers at school. You can spend the day baking, gardening and playing all day long but the things that I did in my vacation are pretty crazy. We put up a restaurant, juice bar, a theatre and even had some concerts, all inside our house. You can go wild and
do anything you please, as long as you don’t get hurt.
Playing is nice but you’ve got to keep up with your school work as well or else
you will forget that you even go to school after the holidays are over. Doing all these things are fun but what I longed to do every day was to watch horror movies with my family. But after doing this, don’t get scared to be alone in the dark like me.
These are all things that we like to do but none of them involve helping our parents. So just to be kind, helpful and fair, you could help them do the chores around the house (without getting paid) or even cook up a nice meal for them.
All I’m saying is, make the most of this unexpected holiday, as fun and enjoyable as possible because I don’t think our next school holiday will be this long!!

Water
Water is a national heritage of ours. We need water for food, drinking and cultivation. Nobody can live without water. Water is essential not only for people but also for animals. People’s favourite drink is water.
Earth is known as the Blue Planet because 71% of the Earth’s surface is covered with water. Water also exists below land surface and as water vapour in the air.
Water is a blessing for all of us. Our body consists of 60% water. It is as important for our body as fuel or oil for a car. Without water we will die in a week.
Our ancient kings had understood the value of this precious element. They built tanks to make the maximum use of the available water. It was King Parakramabahu the Great who said, “Not a single drop of rain should reach the sea without man making some use of it.”
Some countries are naturally blessed with water. So that men and animals are never in danger of dying from thirst. In such countries, it rains often, the grass is always green. The wells and rivers are always full and people do not have to go far from their houses in order to quench their thirst.
But in some countries, water is not so plentiful and they get very little rain for several months in the year. The grass turns brown and the wells dry up. Without the dampness of the surface the whole world would become dry and dreary.
We must do our best to prevent waste and pollution of this precious blessing.

Life-long wish to Funday Times
I vividly remember my very first Funday Times with my photograph for membership. I was under 10 and my grandfather surprised me further by sending a photograph of mine for the Birthday Page, when I was 10 years on July 30, 2014.
Since then I was interested in the much esteemed children’s magazine and started writing for almost all the competitions especially for my favourite ‘Book Competition.’
I was pleasantly surprised when I count the dozens of valuable books and the Tomahawk bicycle that I have won, but a bit annoyed because I’m now 15 plus.
However, I will never miss an issue of Funday Times in future too. In fact over the years, I’ve recommended Funday Times to as many of my friends and cousins as I possibly can.
Well, I’m also very proud to be an old member of Funday Times and sincerely wish all the kids between 4 – 15 years, to follow my footsteps and read your brilliant magazine with relevant and current news, articles, competitions, quizzes and word games and always take part in competitions and try to be winners. Thanks!
