More than 100 teaching appointments awarded this week

Teaching appointments for 155 Sri Lanka Teacher Service diplomates were handed over on Tuesday (July 14) this week. The appointments were handed over to diplomates who have completed the National Pedagogical Training during the years 2014-2016 and 2015-2017, at the National College of Education.
Under this scheme, 79 Sinhala medium, 28 Tamil medium and 48 English medium diploma holders have been awarded appointments.
Appointments had been offered for the following primary and secondary education subjects: Science, Mathematics, Sinhala,Tamil, English, sociology, Buddhism, Physical Education, Commerce, Music (Karnataka), Art, Dancing, Drama and Performing Arts, Information and Communication Technology, Agriculture and Food Technology, Planning and Technology, Arts and Handicrafts, Home Science, Special Education, Arts and Crafts, Design and Electronic Technology.
So far the number of teachers that had been absorbed to the teaching cadre from the National College of Education was more than 130,603, which was 52.91% of the country’s entire teaching cadre.
The occasion was graced by the State Secretary of Education Ranjith Chandrasekara, Education Ministry Secretary N.H.M. Chithrananda and Education Ministry Additional Secretaries Anusha Gokula and Hemantha Premathilaka.
