Kumar elected new head of MHA
Former Dharmadutha and D.S. Senanayake hockey player Kumar de Silva was elected President of the Mercantile Hockey Association (MHA) of Sri Lanka for 2020/21 at its 64th Annual General Meeting held at the Reg Wood Lounge of the Burgher Recreation Ciub recently.
De Siva a represented Sri Lanka President’s XI on numerous occasions in inter-club, Sri Lanka Schools and Mercantile tournaments. Former Anandian and former national poolist Manjula Wijemanne who stepped down after serving for seven years, was appointed as the Vice Patron.
Past President and Life member of the MHA Dennis Rosayro stated that Manjula Wijemmane had the honour of being the President of the two biggest hockey associations in the country, namely Colombo HA and Mercantile HA, and paid a glowing tribute to the yeoman services he rendered. He further stated that the baton passes on to an another thoroughbred Kumar de Silva who has earmarked several development projects.
