Soekarno Ousmand re-elected president of Malay Association
View(s):The 98th annual general meeting of the Sri Lanka Malay Association was held on Sunday July 26, 2020 at the Padang, Colombo 02. Soekarno Tunku Ousmand was re-elected president for the second consecutive year.

SLMA, the premier Malay organisation established in 1922, has continued to focus its efforts on enhancing Sri Lankan Malay’s cultural values, serving the less-fortunate, documenting and archiving historical records of the Malay community, and building strong bonds of friendship among all Sri Lankans.
The association organises annual cultural events like the popular Pesta Melayu and the Pasar Malam. The SLMA also reaches out to the rural communities by building safe drinking water facilities in the dry zone areas, and carrying out the annual school books and accessories distribution, and scholarship presentation for needy children.
