Different Discovery Indoor Cricket Academy begins operation
Different Discovery Indoor Cricket Academy (www.ddcricket.lk); a purpose-built high performance indoor-cricket centre located close to the Colombo International Airport, in the outskirts of Katunayake city was opened and led the first membership drive on August 29.
It comprises up-to-date features and facilities that provide a high-performance coaching for future Sri Lankan cricketers. Coaches are qualified with ICC Global Levels to provide the finest coaching programs designed for all-levels.
“We are fortunate to regularly have former national cricketers as guest coaches and advisors to the academy, bringing insightful ideas and coaching tips,” an academy official stated.
Spacious garden, parking, dining area, coaches room, gear room, viewing balcony, parents’ lounge, power training gym, hybrid mountain bikes and modern cricket training aids are some of the facilities available for new members.
Apart from the cricket and fitness training, cycling excursions, mindfulness and meditation, yoga, qigong, sumba, self defense and dancing classes will be conducted by qualified trainers. Different Discovery has been a popular sign in Sri Lankan inbound travel since summer 2009. It was created by two young brothers; Dinesh and Rasith Gunaratna, sustained by three prominent investors; Enrico Harrasser, Morten Berg, Christy Chen Moeller from Copenhagen, Oslo and Shanghai. They have been developing sustainable tourism projects in Unawatuna, Riverston and Trincomalee.
Former cricket stars Arjuna Ranatunga and Chaminda Vaas boosted the inaugural membership drive and former First Class cricketer and a bowling coach, Anusha Samaranayake was appointed as the head coach and consultant of the academy. The academy is located at 75, Big City, Peellawatta, Yatiyana in Minuwangoda.
