Kamindu guides Chilaw Marians to easy win
In a rain-affected day, a brilliant knock of 117 by Kamindu Mendis helped Chilaw Marians to record their second successive win with an easy 109-run victory on D/L method over Negombo CC in the Under-23 Inter-Club Limited Over Cricket Tournament played at the FTZ ground in Katunayake yesterday.
Mendis’ knock helped the Marians reach a formidable total of 264 for 9 and in reply Negombo CC were bundled out for only155 runs.
Defending champions Colts CC too recorded their second win with a convincing 138-run win on the D/L method against SLPA CC in the match played at the Colts ground. Colts posted a formidable 255 for 8 thanks to half tons by Avishka Fernando and Santhush Gunatileke, and then bowled out their opponents for a meagre score of 114 runs.
In the other matches played SSC, Tamil Union, Nugegoda S&WC and Army SC chalked up their second wins while NCC, Galle CC, BRC and Moors SC recorded their first wins. All matches were affected by rain and results of almost all of them were decided on Duckworth/Lewis Method.
