Kurunegala young guns dominate Matale Ranking Tennis Tournament

Chamidu Abeysinghe, Venuli Jayasinghe and Sandaru Guruge walked away with Tennis Singles crowns at the Matale Ranking Tennis Tournament 2020 (Category 5) which was played at Matale District Tennis Club Courts from September 25 to 27.
Chamidu from Kurunegala beat Pasindu Rukunayake, also from Kurunegala in the Under-12 Singles finals by 6-1, 6-3. Venuli, another promising player from Kurunegala, was the winner in the Girls Under-12 Singles final. She beat Faith Vithanage of Colombo by 4-1, 4-1.
Sandaru from Colombo won the Boys Under-16 Singles title defeating Besandu Dassanayake from Kurunegala by 6-1, 6-1 in the final.
The three-day tournament organised and conducted by the Matale District Tennis Club (MDTC) saw 46 players (Boys and Girls) representing Colombo, Kurunegala, Kandy and Matale taking part. Harsha Chandrasiri was the Tournament Director while Prasad Jayalatharachchi representing Sri Lanka Tennis Association, officiated as the tournament referee. - L.D. Chandrasiri – Matale
