The Ministry of Sports, in partnership with Nestle Lanka’s energy drink Milo, conducted a programme to coincide the World Children’s Day aiming the fitness and activeness development of schoolchildren.

The programme was held on Wednesday at the Sports Development Department ground in Torrington with the keen participation young girls and boys from selected schools. The objective of the programme was to create awareness on the importance of fitness activities and attract the youngsters into sports activities, besides their academic commitments.

“Our intention is to build a nation with healthy, active and sporty citizens. Through this programme, which we intend to continue, we are hoping to attract the schoolchildren into sports,” an official of the Ministry of Sports stated.

Over 500 schoolchildren from 11 schools participated in the programme, where Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Namal Rajapaksa and Vice President of Nestle Lanka, Bandula Egodage actively took the forefront of the event. – Pix Nestle Lanka and Sports Ministry
