Supun Sathsara from Galgamuwa and the Bachelor of Management Studies Honours Degree offered by the Open University of Sri Lanka
View(s):Supun Sathsara passed his G.C.E Advanced level with 3 B’s in the commerce stream . However, because of the competitive education system, he was not able to gain entrence to the National Universities in Sri Lanka . Supun was The Head Prefect at the Galgamuwa Central College and an active member of the School debate team. All the staff members in the commerce section expected Supun to be selected to the University as he was always first in the term test exams. Supun was really upset about the examination results and his brother Ruwan advised him to have a second attempt. Anyway immediately after one week of releasing results Supun went to see his cousin brother Sanuka in Kandy. Sanuka also passed Advanced level with one A and Two B’s in the Science stream but did not have enough marks to be selected to the National University. Now, Sanuka is working at one of the leading private banks in Kandy and he is doing his studies at Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL).

“Mallie Open University is for people like us. If you have any Three Passes in one and the same sitting at the G.C.E. A/L Examination, Sri Lanka you can apply for the Bachelor of Management Studies Honours Degree [BMS Hons] conducted by Faculty of Management Studies,” replied Sanuka.
“This is ideal for working people like us and also The Open University of Sri Lanka is a recognised institute by University Grant Commission(UGC) with well over 40 years of experience. By the way OUSL has many regional and study centers throughout the country.”
“It looks really interesting. How I can apply Ayya?”
“My friend Ireka is also applying this time . According to her, you can apply online from 11th October to 10th November 2020. You have a selection test and this will be on the 21st of November 2020”
How is your experience at OUSL ayya?
“It is a great experience . Now I am in the second year. You have well qualified lecturers we get study materials as well. The important thing is the course fee is very affordable. Also many working people from private and public sector study here and we are really enjoying our University life”
“Thanks for the information ayya. I was really worried about my results at the Advanced Level. Now I feel this happened for a good reason as I can work and learn easying the financial burden of my parents too” replied Supun.
