A firm foundation opens a world of study opportunities
Students in Sri Lanka who have their O/Levels and a desire to study at a leading Australian university can establish a firm foundation for their education right here in Colombo.
UTS Foundation Studies is a highly regarded qualification around the world and is the best preparation for success at an Australian university. It opens the door to a range of undergraduate programmes at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia’s number one young university, or to enter diploma courses at UTS Sri Lanka in Business, Engineering and IT.
The course has been designed in collaboration with UTS. It has the needs of international students in mind, building skills in such areas as mathematics, society and culture, and academic skills. It also includes interesting, contemporary subjects such as International Perspectives, Science, Technology and Society, and Introduction to Creative Thinking.
UTS Foundation Studies opens a rich array of study opportunities. On successful completion, many students from Sri Lanka travel to Australia and study degrees such as Health Sciences, Business, IT or Engineering at UTS.
Health Sciences
With a focus on the social model of health, the UTS Health Science degree can lead to a range of careers. Some students concentrate on using and interpreting data to improve health care systems. Students can also build an understanding of international health priorities or focus on pharmacology or physiotherapy with a view to further study. The shared outcome is a broad-based education that combines health-specific content (such as population health, public health, primary care and indigenous health) with a selection of professional subjects (such as interpersonal communication, evidence and intuition, diversity and culture), enabling graduates to work effectively in many health care environments.
Business
UTS Business School is one of a handful in the world to be accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). This means it has attained the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide.
Undergraduate students can customise their degrees with a range of study options to match their interests and ambitions. In the Bachelor of Business, students can experience each discipline before choosing how to construct their degree after first year.
The Bachelor of Management, Bachelor of Economics, and Bachelor of Accounting options also give students the opportunity to refine their studies with elective options as they progress.
Information Technology
An undergraduate IT degree from UTS opens exciting, challenging employment opportunities in every sector of the IT industry, all around the globe. The courses are continually being updated to keep pace with advancing technologies and developing industry trends, which keeps them current and relevant.
A strong focus on practical skills makes them the leading programmes of their kind. From the beginning of their studies, students apply their skills to real industry challenges and engage in hackathons and showcases. Courses are delivered by industry professionals who understand the importance of practical learning.
Engineering
With a strong grounding in maths, science and technology, engineers are developing solutions to global issues and driving innovation. Undergraduate engineering courses at UTS are continuously evolving to stay in the forefront of the industry.
