Sri Lankan born popular singer Alston Koch, who is a leading campaigner on Climate Change, has been invited by Rosalia Arteaga of Ecuador, the only woman to have held the positions of both President and Vice President of any country, as a special invitee to speak on the problems of Climate Change and the effects of plastic on the World’s environment.

This time he appeared as a special guest at the ‘Excellencia Educativa’, a popular education editorial campaign on 15th, 16th and 17th October in the Republic Of Ecuador discussing the effects of Climate Change.

Alston is probably the only Asian born artiste to have appeared in most cities throughout the Continent of South America on this subject educating climate change as a subject apart from his music career. Author and performer of many songs in relation to ‘Climate Change’, Alston also wrote, performed and presented the song  ‘A Symphony For Change’ on World Environmental Day celebration in Mexico.

He also performed a song written especially for this occasion in Ecuador on the subject. Alston Koch has been an original advocate for Climate Change since 1991 when he approached the subject (then unknown) and raised the eyebrows of members of the British Parliament in the House Of Commons.

Alston in a special note to the TV Times, mentioned his visit to Ecuador gave him opportunity to visit Amazon region and the breathtaking Andes. Also he was interviewed on ‘CORA CORA’ Television by former President Rosalia Arteaga. It was fitting that he be invited again having been felicitated by the Rotary Club of Ecuador for his contribution to the South and Latin American communities.

2019 has been a great year for Alston Koch in Colombo having carried away the ‘Best Actor’ award at the SIGNIS Film Awards, ‘Sri Lankan of The Year’ and ‘Global Entertainer Of The Year 2019’ and Brand Ambassador for the Rotary Club of Sri Lanka.

In his early years in Australia entertaining and travelling the World, he has recorded for R.C.A, EMI and SONY Records with Gold and Platinum Awards to his credit.

The same year The Sri Lanka Foundation of America presented him with the Exceptional Achievement Award and the US Congress recognised him with a ‘Certificate Of Recognition and Special US Congressional Recognition’ for improving the lives of the communities in America.

Nominated as a consideration for an Oscar and an Academy Award for his excellent role in the film ‘According To Matthew’ the film was a sell-out for 75 days in Sri Lanka.

Alston Koch recently reached No 2 with his best selling album ‘Don’t funk with me’ .

He has been recognised as the ‘Purveyor Of Disco and Soul Music’ in the Southern Hemisphere by World Rock Historian Glenn A Baker and recognised by A.R.I.A as ‘THE FUNK MASTER’ in their CHARTFACTS in June 2012.
