“You are loved”: A strong social message on suicide prevention

“You are loved” –a social media campaign launched by Rotary Club of Kandy in collaboration with Rotaract Club of Peradeniya last month is sending a strong message of suicide prevention among the youth.
After consulting the District Mental Health Officer and Psychiatrist at General Hospital Kandy, the Rotary Club of Kandy joined hands with the Rotaract Club of the University of Peradeniya to create a series of campaign posters with simple tag lines on suicide prevention in all three languages to drive home the message and highlight the national help line for suicide prevention.
These campaign posters were sent to their members – Rotaract Clubs and 21 Interact clubs under the Rotary Club of Kandy on September 10 with a request to upload, share, forward and re-post on their social media and in just two weeks, the ripple effect carried this message to over 10,000 young adults through 200 Rotaractors and 950 Interactors.
